While this is the more entertaining of the two versions of C.S. Lewis's famous children's book on this list, it is also the more violent (battle scenes take up a large portion of this film) and the less faithfully adapted. The Christian symbolism, so obvious in the book and in the animated version, is muted here, though still present. Perhaps it could best be summed up this way: in the book Aslan isn't actually encountered until near the end, and yet he manages to be the character - everything revolves around him - but in the movie, while he appears far sooner and far more often, he is reduced to being merely a character, one of many. Overall, a very entertaining movie, though the violence makes it unsuitable for preteens.
