The BBC made three live-action Narnia movies but in their first movie, The Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe the special effects were laughably bad, while in their second movie, Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader most of the stories' Christian subtext is lost. Only in this, their third effort, did they get things pretty much right. The special effects are adequate and the adaptation is faithful to the book - enjoyable viewing but like any movie based on a great book, it should be watched only after reading the book, lest the film imagery shackle the imagination of the reader when they encounter the novel for the first time.
