On her way back from a gravesite funeral, Kathy Ross stumbles across a tombstone that has only the name "Tilly" inscribed on it, along with a single date - the girl buried there was born and died on the very same day. Kathy becomes fixated with the tombstone and with the name, and her obsession soon starts interfering with her sleep. Her husband, prompted by growing concern, decides to find out who exactly this Tilly was, not realizing that his investigation will lead him right back to his own home. The movie is based on the Frank Peretti novel of the same name and it is in some ways a mystery so little else can be said without giving too much away. But the plot revolves around a very powerful moral: God really can forgive us, even of those big sins that seem so particularly unforgivable.
