A very different selection, this movie was made as a Nazi propaganda film in 1934. Praised for its cinematography, it is indeed horribly beautiful, with bold military parades and powerful speeches (done, of course, in German, though with English subtitles). The reason it is worth watching is because few today understand how something as horrible as the Holocaust could have happened. Triumph of the Will shows how the evil of Nazism is not so different than that going on around us today (think of abortion, for example), and how evil can, in a certain light, be made to seem patriotic and even noble.
